On February 24, Russia initiated military action against Ukraine with attacks throughout the country, including in the capital city, Kyiv. Since then, more than 3.5 million people have fled Ukraine to neighboring countries to seek refuge. Additionally, more than 6.5 million people are internally displaced within Ukraine. The people of the Archdiocese of Chicago stand with our brothers and sisters suffering under attack in Ukraine, and we pray for the safety of all now under fire and for those displaced in other nations.
A special collection is being taken up to support the humanitarian efforts to help those suffering in Ukraine and the millions of refugees.
